I have consistently integrated teaching and research throughout my academic career in both Portugal and Spain. My teaching experience spans undergraduate and graduate levels across multiple institutions.
During my doctoral studies, I was invited to lecture on methodological and theoretical aspects of my research in undergraduate anthropology courses at the University of Barcelona, as well as at summer courses and seminars at other institutions.
At the undergraduate level, I taught a History of Popular Music course at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (2007) and have been teaching Popular Music Studies within the Bachelor in Music program at Nova University Lisbon from 2012 to 2019.
My graduate-level teaching includes guest lectures in Universidade Nova’s research-based PhD programs: Music as Culture and Cognition (Music Department) and Politics and Images of Culture and Museology (Anthropology Department). I also taught an Anthropology of Sound course in Portugal’s first postgraduate program in Acoustics and Sound Studies at Nova University Lisbon.
I currently co-lead an introductory course on Ethnography and Field Methods designed for students and professionals in cultural and natural heritage at INCIPIT-CSIC. The course provides comprehensive theoretical foundations while developing practical skills in ethnographic fieldwork techniques. Participants gain hands-on experience with essential research methods, data collection strategies, and analytical approaches that are fundamental to conducting effective ethnographic studies in heritage contexts.
I have supervised MA students at the Universidad Autónoma de México and at Portuguese institutions including Universidade de Aveiro and Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
